Yay!
I just had my first mixlr broadcast today! A test broadcast, before the 'actual' one tomorrow. I have uploaded the recording of the broadcast to my showreel, and you can listen to my broadcast here! Also do follow me on mixlr, I'll like that very much thank you! I actually only decided to start doing broadcasts this morning, and only paid five bucks for premium membership this morning as well. Haha I was kind of sneaky actually! I asked everyone who could and wanted to stay to come over and listen in to my test broadcast after Mio matsumoto's show :P Sneaky me! 'Stealing' her audience like this hahaha.
But I'm glad that I did a test broadcast! Because it let me uncover some technical problems and other errors on my part. Like for example, the first time I spoke, I forgot to lower the background sound volume and as a result my voice became very soft. And then I was hearing echos --> only later did I realise it was because I was hearing the sound monitoring from the mixlr app, as well as the sound streaming from the webpage! The mixlr app needs to have the live chat built in to it ne...? And of course... it crashed a grand total of three time! Maybe because my computer ram is only 4gb, so every time I tried to use the search function in the add song window the app crashed. It took me a few crashes to figure out that out ><. But once I stopped search and instead navigate to my songs file by file, the broadcast went fine. Well except for the fact that I had to search through iTunes to locate which file my song is in... because I have been using iTunes all along (iPhone and mac user here), so I have always left to organisation of my songs to iTunes... and you know, iTunes organizes it by Artist, followed by album... and I did not sort out all my album names properly so I have like... three 'iza now' folders - 'Iza now', 'Iza now Tour' and 'Iza, now'. Yes, even the comma makes a difference... and some although i've changed ohno's solo song artist from Ohno Satoshi to Arashi, the song still remains in the Ohno Satoshi folder!!!!! Pffftttttttt! Gah, iTunes organization fail ne? That was why i tried to use the search... while I could search alright and add the song alright during my test broadcast (as in, non-live), but the app just crashed and died when I was airing live. Pffffftt! But at least that's avoidable, I'll just have to put in more effort by searching for the song in iTunes and usign the get info panel (cmd+I) to see where the file is stored. I'm really glad that at least I managed 1 hr and 45 minutes without crashing haha. Hope things will go smoothly tomorrow!
And me speaking... I heard a little of my voice while reviewing my show reel earlier... and my voice sounds so low! And of course, I was so nervous! Towards the end I wasn't as nervous, but still I keep forgetting all that I wanted to say... hmm guess I'll have to work on that. It’s a great thing too. I've not had much chance to do presentations ever since I finished secondary school. I'm very shy, and very bad at public speaking by nature, and though all that training in secondary school shaped me up, my presentation skills have all gone down the drain after that since I barely have a chance to present. Of course speaking to my computer, and to a bunch of Arashi fans over the Internet is nothing like say... presenting in front of a huge live audience... but some practice is always better than nothing right? I'd like to be able to speak more naturally and no be so nervous too. Yeah... apart from the fact that its so fun live chatting with all these other Arashi fans, that was one of the great reasons that convinced me to go ahead and pay the 5 bucks. Its not like I have anything better to do after work besides study for next month's jlpt, watch arashi shows, and play iphone games anyway. And recently all I've been doing after dinner is lie on my bed playing my phone. Not very erm... productive ne? Might as well try doing some broadcasts ne? Kekeke.
Hmm speaking of self improvement... one thing that certainly comes to mind is me and my blog entries. Right now I've all but given up on all my other blogs in bloggger. LJ is the only place I post to now... and I'd started blogging, and forcing myself to try and post regularly, because I want to improve my writing skills. Same with me writing fanfics... Not so much for reviews though, but through reviews I definitely improved my Japanese. But yes fanfics! Thank you so much to all my new found fans. There were so many people in the live chats who were interested in reading my fics, or who read my fics and loved it... thank you so much! I honestly never knew I was erm... that well know as a writer in LJ. My stories and far and few between after all, and had always only been one shots. Hmm I guessComputers 101 Yama 101 really helped. A lot of people loved it and I was very pleased it won first place in the fic (speaking of which, I have yet to choose the photo to print on the cushion). Of course once the voting started I was really hoping that I would win, and I was so delighted to see so many votes for my fic... but really before posting I did not expect to win! I was thinking, maybe if there were not a lot of entries I might get lucky and squeeze in a third or something... but to win was really unexpected. And from the comments it turned out to be more 'crackish' than I intended it to be. Gosh maybe I'm not that bad at writing crack after all? Idk.
Well and now. I've finally posted my first multichap! I'm worried about that... but at least I've got 10 properly edited and ready for posting chapters. What I'm more worried about is the donation fic request. That's waaaaaaaaaaay overdue, but unfortunately when I tried to work on it I have no idea how to continue at all! Gomen! I think... form now on... I won't write donation fics anymore... at least contests if I can't make the dateline, I'll drop out and it'll only affect me... whereas donation fics someone donated and is waiting for the fic... >< ahhhhhh gomen! But I have no idea how to continue that fic... ahhhh what to do? ><
Oh wells. Its already past midnight now... time flies! Ok, I really need to get some sleep now! I needa wake up by 7am tmr, got physiotherapy appointment in the morning, and then gotta head off to work, and I'll have to do DNA extraction tmr... a good whole afternoon till evening's work in the lab. And then I'm broadcasting at night! Yes. I need my sleep... good night minna!
