Gosh. How time flies.

I'm sure Arashi fan would have heard about the annoucement by Arashi yesterday... About their last concert before disbanding next year... I've not watched the video yet, but I read the announcement...

Somehow... I'm not surprised. I mean. In the first place... It's hard to stay an idol forever... They aren't getting any younger. They are all in their 40s now.... How time flies indeed... And in the period of hiatus... They have all been pursuing their own interests... I just wish that we will still get to see what Oh-chan is up to... But he has chosen a quiet life for himself.

It is alas, still sad... I met so many people because of the Arashi fandom. People I would otherwise not have met. I doubt I would also have learnt so much Japanese either, as informal as that learning is... I definitely can't write Japanese kanji for one (as in handwrite)... I've forgotten most of my Chinese already after all. But at least I can speak it sufficiently for travel purposes. And all the youtube videos that I can watch and understand pretty darn well. And it all started because I watched Arashi variety shows.

All the fanfics I wrote... I would never have tried my hand at writing fiction if not for them...

Ahhh.... Time flies.

I think the same about my current job too... I've really been here for a long time. Going 7 years now. I was in this job when I went to their concert before the hiatus. The first and last idol concerts I went to...

I haven't listen to their songs in a while now...

I've been listening to like just one song on replay for months, that sort of thing... So I'm hardly listening to anything at all... But yeah... Arashi... It feels like a distant time away, back when I was young(er)... It was a lot of fun watching them... And I'm glad for the internet because those videos and shows and memories... They will forever be there, available for me to watch somewhere... I hope they will indulge us one (or a few more times) before disbanding... I want to hear them talk. About random little everyday things. Updating us about their lives... Maybe while eating. And just being silly. I like the bond they with each other, that was what drew me to their group. The bond that is called Arashi. The stupid shit they do together... Like feeling each other's butts during the music station live... Their friendship is genuine, and they are genuinely having fun. I'll miss that.

It's just not the same without the 5 of them together... And I'm so glad they made the decision to stick together no matter what. Even at the end. Like... Nino has his youtube channel... But honestly after a few months I just stopped watching it. It's not the same, and it's not as funny, enjoyable, entertaining... Poor guys... I don't even remember their names now. I mean. There is Yamada... And the... Kanjani8 guy. And then the... Sexy zone youngster? No, I have no clue what the new group names are either, sorry. But yeah... The youngster is kinda... Supposed to play the Aiba role. But somehow he just annoys me. And then the rest of them are just... Very... Low energy folks. I doesn't make for a very exciting viewing experience for me so I just stopped watching, yeah. Of course, Nino not being on the top of my favourites list might have something to do with it... But it also feels like... His snarkiness couldn't go on full display there etc.

I really haven't been following the Jpop trend even before Arashi went on hiatus. I know Jun did the taiga drama, which I didn't watch any of... And then Aiba took over the shimura doubutsuen after Shimura-san passed away... I see Nino on some movie poster recently? I don't know. Jun had a long beard and all so when I saw screenshots of a clean shaven Jun from the annoucement video I was like, you sure this is a recent video? I guess he shaved to look like how he was back when Arashi went on the hiatus... How considerate of him... As expected of the Japanese.

And wait... Sho, Aiba and Nino are all married now? With Sho and Aiba annoucing it on the same day? And Nino has 2 kids now? Aiba 1? I think? I haven't really been following, and I might well have missed/forgotten some annoucements. I know Nino was the first and so that stuck the most in my memory. The rest kind of became a distant blur.

I wish them all the best, just as I have all along. I'll still support them, even though I am no longer an active fan... Life just happens you know...

I'm glad they are coming together one last time, and even gasp doing a round of concerts before disbanding. I'm also glad that they didn't chose the route of remaining active while people leave one by one... That's just even sadder, and it really just won't be Arashi without any one of them. Ignoring the songs and how Ohno is the lead singer... But just the dynamics and everything... It just won't work out if one person is missing, something that I deeply felt when watching Nino's "4 person channel' on youtube... It's just not the same.

I doubt I'll be able to get tickets to the concerts, since I just let my FC membership lapse long ago (I just didn't check when to renew it and such, it's kind of cumbersome as a foreigner... And yeah, it just expired...). But I'm sure they will have DVDs and blurays and such and I will definitely buy those.

Oh wells. I don't really have much else to say now. Just as I've moved on with my life, Arashi is also moving on... Thank you for all the fun times we had together.

Note to readers: Written for the 2017 Arashi exchange! Finally got around to posting the fic! There's roughly a 'current' timeline plus a 'past' timeline (aka flashbacks) that's going on in parallel, with the 'past' being all jumbled up. Hopefully it's not too confusing... :P
Note to recipient: Warning! Character death! Nah just kidding. Erm so... I hope you still have not watched Sense8 because you know what? Before receiving your prompt I haven't the slightest clue what on earth Sense8 is. I just erm, read a few pages of wiki and ran along with it... And this is the result. This fic brings a lot of firsts for me... (My first supernatural/super powers fic, first one shot that's so long too, at least the longest I've written in a long while...) Was quite a struggle to write at first but I'm pleased with the end result, I hope that you'll like it too! Now on to the story.

Cos the morning/noon rush is finally over.

Woke up rather late this morning... 10:30am, or almost 11? So I stumbled out of bed and went right to my computer... For some reason I didn't start playing games and stuff on my phone in bed... Maybe cos it was late enough already and I'd laid in bed for long enough.

And the first thing I saw? A link to some news about Are You Happy DVD in Japanese... There was something about Japonism Arena too and I was like, what? They released both at the same time? Crap I don't have enough $$$ left???

Turns out that Japonism came with the LE of AYH DVD. So I ordered the LE in blu-ray... and since I'm broke I'll have to wait for my pay to come before I can order the RE in DVD - since the bonus content is the same in DVD for both versions...

So yeah... Then I scrambled to put together my Nihongo Manabu post. My second post in two days thanks to Arashi news... Haven't done a review for that site in like three weeks ><

Then after putting a basic post together... It was time to pimp the links on FB and stuff... After that I opted to have some lunch before continuing to add information to the post... Then I made the news post to

storm_freaks ... Together with the jweb updates... And finally I processed some membership applications for SF - both on LJ and DW. And now... I'm done. Kinda. Still have to add more pre-order links to the NM post. But yeah... What a crazy, hectic morning.

The DVD. It's crazy. The sort of bonus it comes with. The LE is basically like... Buy one concert, get one concert free. Only that it's definitely NOT free because the LE is way more expensive than the RE. And the RE? Comes with documentary of the AYH concert... From the time when they were still conceptualizing the concert right till the very end. I heard they filmed rehearsals and all too. GOSH. Rehearsals! Precious precious footage. Must have it... Yes... Need to wait for my pay to come cos I'm broke. Gosh.... I'm totally forced to buy both versions this time... It'll be the first time I'm buying both editions....

Sigh. Second and last week left of my vacation...

Disclaimer and notice to all readers: This is a really long fic, over 60 chapters and I'm still maybe... halfway through the story. I'm determined to finish this series though! Each chapter is really short, typically under 500 words... So I'll try and post a chapter daily to make up for the short chapters. Don't ask me why I make each chapter so short. It just is. That's how it ends up and that'll be how I post it. It's more like a drabble series? Only that each chapter is generally slightly longer than even the looser definitions of a drabble...

I've mentioned many JE characters in my story, but I don't actually follow any JE group besides Arashi. Please do not take offense if your favourite JE idol was OOC, unfairly represented or anything... I'm merely using their names because it makes it easier for me to write when I have a face to refer to, rather than completely making up a new character. (Not that there aren't made up characters too but... nevermind.)

A/N: This started off with me trying to write the Arashi dialogues in Japanese (which is admittedly something that I've wanted to do before, but have never actually carried out.) Then I decided to might as well try and write the whole thing in Japanese instead. So I did, and later on added in the English version. It's not a direct translation, and the English version has parts that's not written in Japanese and vice versa. I hardly have any Japanese writing experience/practice, and attempting to write a fic in Japanese is a first, so pardon all and any mistakes.

Background to the story:

Basically, this person tweeted that during the miles away song on the 7th Jan 2017 Fukouka concert, Sho's lifter, and Sho's only, had a problem and the handrails did not come up. I've not been to the concert but... Based on past experience, Arashi's concert lifters go really really high up. I would be terrified for sure, standing on that little platform with no handrails. Even with the handrails it doesn't help that much... Those handrails look so thin and frail... Poor Sho!

Just what... two more weeks or so till the year ends (and I can start using my Are You Happy? planner.)

The end of the year is a pretty great time to do a little reflection excersise.... And since I'm going on holiday from Sunday, and I've yet to pack anything... Thought I'd try to get my online posts all done today so yeah. ~~Pardon my two posts in a row thing.~~

So... I'll pose a question in bold, then answer it for myself... Then you can answer the questions in bold in your comments as well. How does that sound? Questions will include both personal and Arashi related questions. I'm taking my questions and modifying them from this post, in case you're interested. It's been a long time since I actually talked about Arashi in my blog... I think? But wells...

Say in a typical middle/high school class of maybe 30 - 40 students... Of course, my answer will be based on what I've experienced in SG and what little I know about the education system in Japan.

Assuming that all 5 of them gets into the small class as I am, and none of us knew each other, even among the 5 Arashi members... How would they segregate into?

Ohno would probably be the weird freak in class who's always slouching in the corner drawing manga on his textbooks. Always scoring really low in tests and mocked by all the teachers and bullies... Unless it's art class of course. He's the art freak after all. He'd probably be one of the loners in class.

Sho would be the hardworking top student. Prefect. Class monitor. Whatever. Loads of leadership positions. He'll try his best to get into every advanced subject program he can. And he'll probably make it for most of them. And did I mention that he's a nice guy too? If you ask him nicely, he'll actually explain how to do your homework for you. Too perfect.

Jun. The guy who's erm. Constantly wooing girls, whether intended or not. He's the other Mr. Perfect in the class, in terms of looks and trying to be cool. Often times he ends up trying too hard that it's hilarious. But if you actually get to work with him, you'll discover that he's actually pretty smart too. And nice. Quite the gentlemen.

Aiba, the sports guy. He's into every sport, always acing the PE classes. He's not very book smart, but who cares, that dude is way on track to getting an athletic scholarship, some even say he'll represent Japan next time. And it's not that he doesn't study, it's just that studying through books doesn't work for him.

Nino. Another loner. The gamer geek who hangs out with other geeks in the school, and sadly none of the geeks are in the same class. You'll find him huddled in a corner of the rooftop and playing on this DS, either alone or with other fellow geeks.

Hmm... I'll stop here for now. I think I should develop this into a mini fic. Fantastic classmates and where to find them or something. :P
