coolohohOk... so owing to the space crunch on my 250gb hard disk MBP that got cut into 2 by bootcamp for me to play games on XP... plus the fact that somehow Trickster online just wouldnt auto update... i got forced to re-DL the whole trickster game and decided that i might as well re-DL maple as well. The thing with these games is that as you patch them, the game file gets bigger and bigger... my maple game files has become a huge 6gb when its supposed to be like... 2.6gb.. :X Considering that i only allocated 40 GB to my xp partition (and the reason why i'm running xp is 1) it takes up a lot less space than newer versions of windows and 2) i dont have a copy of newer versions of windows anyway...), that's a lot of extra space wasted. Meh. 250 GB is way too little for me... with all the videos and songs that i have... on top of the truckload of programs (hey, adobe suite costs like 17gb ok! Photoshop and all the like...), no to forget the 40 GB curved out for xp. My lack of space on XP is really severe... recently had to transfer zoo tycoon 2 to my thumbdrive because i didnt have enough space to update my maple patch -.-''' So yes, now i'm slowly downloading maple while my trickster installs. And that leaves me stuck here in xp when i'm so craving to watch thursday's HnA.
its like a tug of war really. Games like maple and trickster pull me towards xp, and when hooked on games i wont log in to mac for weeks or more. On the other hand, stuff like blogging (i pay big moneh for marsedit, the mac blogging tool), arashi (i prefer watching shows and all that on the mac. on the xp the sound driver doesnt work very well and the sound is way too loud so i always have to turn the volume till its lowest setting), and of cos all the proper things like school work. I dont even have office installed on xp cos there was some problem with the CD. I did install open office a while back, but then deleted it due to lack of space (again!). And right now for me, i'm all hyped up about writing reviews and cant wait to get cracking on my thurday's HnA review. MarsEdit is a really lovely blogging tool, i just use my desktop widget to crop the screen shot (SS), copy it to my clipboard, then paste the SS directly onto marsedit. That nifty little guy will handle the photo uploading for me. The HORRID thing for me who is now sucked into LJ, is that the LJ support is minimal. The devs just dont like LJ and dont wish to add support for it. So all those stuff like tags, mood, music etc... I have to add them manually. Still, the rest of the LJ/blogging tools i've come across dont handle photos as well as marsedit does, so i'm alright with having to come to the web and add those missing stuff in post publishing. The thing i dont get though, its that Marsedit adds a lot of spaces to the entry. Like when i press enter here, its just a small space. But one enter in marsedit = a huge space in LJ! I've learnt not to keep entering so much in marsedit, but it only helps barely. Like after every screen cap i insert they leave a HUGE space. I end up wasting a lot of time deleting the spaces. Not only is it a waste of time, its also really frustrating T.T. Maybe next time i'd just end up too lazy to delete those spaces anymore... >< who knows? :P
Now finally onto the title... Yeah why? I understand if you f-lock the entire fic, but i hate it when i read a fic halfway and then end up stuck because i have to wait for friend approval :(. Maybe its a way to be doubly sure that readers dont see what they dont want to... but something like spoiler tags would work too. Could also be cos its embarressing to write about those stuff (hence all the anon memes XD )... but then it not like they'd really reject ppl asking to be friends so that they can read the chapters right? The thing about posting your fic online is to share it, plus most of the authors also 'advertise' on some comm or another (hence the reason why i stumble onto the fics) so why f-lock just those few chapters? Maybe they dont want some ppl to read that kind of stuff and hence make it friends only? Like how i'm starting to post all my 'inner secrets' here on LJ rather than on my blogspot blogs that i'd advertise on twitter and fb each post i make... I realise i'm starting to get incoherent here... lack of sleep is getting to me :X Sighz. And i thought of so much stuff to write about when i was in the bath... :X Ok, trickster is finally working after the re-DL and update... so i'd just leave my comp on overnight once again while maple DLs... 3am and its time to sleep whee!
