coolohohSad to say this...
but just today i was alerted that a fic i had been reading... was stolen from elsewhere... all the person did was change all the character names to arashi members...
seeing as to how the person has quicky deleted the comment by someone that exposed her act and how she kick me (and probably others too?) out of the comm... still, although the comment was deleted and not readable in my lj message box, the email notification i received clearly showed me what the comment was. and also how that fic is gone from her personal lj when just a few hours ago it was still there... i'll take those as an admission of guilt. Why else would she do that anyway? apart from trying to hide her footsteps... also, it was a clear copy and pasting, with just names being changed. everything else was identical zzzzzzz
i found it a little weird reading the story at 1st, cos the things that were described and written was so american... and barely a hint of arashi in it... there was the nice love stuff but thinking back it can apply to anyone else. nothing specific to arashi was in that story... and yeah... teh american way of writing was what bugged me the most... cos normally ppl would include some japanese stuff and all in the story even if the story is set in other countries...
i dont normally take notice of which writer is which and who wrote what since i read so many different fics by so many diff ppl (but recently stopped reading most fics, just too many of them, and now i'm lost on where to re-continue)... but today when navigating thru the lj to find the previous chapts (since i missed a lot in my reading absences) i noticed some of the other fics by the said person - turns out to be pretty decent fics that i've read before too, but the current one in question was clearly a cut above the rest... now i does make me question if the rest of the works were original too :X
i dont know what to say except that i feel cheated. its a great story alright, and i'll read it properly later on in the original webby when i have the time... but that's not the point... the point is that a respectable fanfic writer was actually plagerising... when i've been taught in school since years back about how its wrong to plagerise and all that... its just... unbelievable to see ppl do it for fanfics... ok maybe not that unbelievable, considering how there are ppl who also repost/retranslate w/o permission... but really what for? this is not even like... sch or something where you have something real at stake.... or is it cos there's nothing at stake but ur virtual reputation so you can do as you please? really... zzzzzz!
its one thing to take ideas from others and write similar stories... that's not very original or creative but it is still your own work... but to copy whilesale like this zzzzzzz....
as i said in my extremely lengthy intro, i'm an avid gamer (in fact that's why i'm still up at this ungodly hour - i have a boss run at 4am -.-'''')... and i once made a semi guide/blog post on how to navigate a new area in maplestory... screenshots and every single word was my own...
one day... someone told me that my blog was kinda 'featured' in google... as in, when they searched the particular keywords pertaining to that post, my blog one of the top results. excited, i too went to search... and discovered that there was ANOTHER blog who copied my post WHOLESALE, pictures and all. That person did give me some credit tho, but said that he was the one who changed the info to fit maplesea - which is ridiculous because i'm also playing maplesea in the 1st place. (there are like... different versions of maplestory for players in different locations, like japan maple story etc) PLUS he didnt change a single word. Angered, i posted a comment and the next day (or next few days, i forget) the post was removed. No apology or anything (as expected). For a while afterwards i kept checking to make sure my works didnt get plagerised... especially my extensive training grounds guide (but is now abandoned)... didnt discover any other incidents after that... but could be cause i added warnings against copying my posts big and bold... so yeah... i know how horrible if feels when ppl plagerise things from you... all the time i spent to explore the area, take the screenshots, upload the posts... and someone just took it all w/o permission...
i would like to believe that the said author is innocent, but all her actions are so obviously saying otherwise... you can write stories with bad plot and that might be uninteresting, you can write stories with bad grammer and that can make the piece hard to read/understand, but that's still a lot ALOT more respectable than stealing the work of others. heck in fact i think those ppl who's english isnt very good but are writing blogs in english or even fanfics are very brave, and very respectable. they put the effort to practise a language they are not familliar with, and are even BRAVE enough to share it with the whole world. That's something that i really admire...
i know... its not like we fans in the internet realm are like the most law abidding citizens in the world... by sharing files or even watching their videos online its not legal... but i think of those as sharing the love for your idol with others... its not claiming any of the videos as our own... you can share a good fanfic but you just dont claim it as you own... i hope you understand what i'm trying to say... its a different thing...

EDIT: oh well. now the whole comm has been deleted. both the comm and the user... i guess that's pretty much it. i hope i wont see a repeat of this... come up with ur own ideas, write ur own stories... if you are really a very horrible writer, you can always just stick to reading :P no one is forcing you to write anything ya know? XD lets just enjoy the rainbow love yeah?
