Outing, food, and yay photos!

Finally, got round to making this post! Went out like… two weeks ago with my sis and her friends to celebrate her bday… and I snapped some photos! Her bday is on the 3rd of Jan, right after the new day, so the christmas decorations were still around! And there’s the Orchard road (premium shopping street in SG) pedestrian night too. It’s a trial that’s underway, where they close the road once a month on the first Saturday of the year to well, let you roam the streets. It was kinda… pathetic though IMO. There were some random performances here and there, a stage, with a very noisy MC. And is was pretty crowded with tourists and Singaporean alike… but the whole atmosphere was lacking. The street performers were still by the sidewalks, as they always were, because they are not license/authorised to perform in the middle of the road. It’s a once a month, 6 hour event, so they didn’t think of setting up stalls in the middle of the road. Some snack stalls and such would certainly give the whole place a more… carnival, festive atmosphere. Thankfully the Christmas lights were still up so we had something to see on this occasion. But otherwise? Kinda disappointing. There’s so much more that could have been done really. And considering how much SG depends on tourism to survive, the Singapore tourism board really should have done better.

News Article Translation: Arashi, First Single this year is theme song of Ikuta's drama "Ouroboros"

Yay! I'm back with a news translation! Original article here! I've also included the original Japanese text below. Pardon any mistakes! Words in [square brackets] are notes/additions by me, and not in the original article.

嵐、今年第1弾シングルは生田主演『ウロボロス』主題歌

Popular idol group Arashi's first song this year "Sakura", will be sold from the 25th of February. This was learnt on the 11th [of January]. It will be used as the theme song for the TBS drama, "Ouroboros~kono ai koso, seigi" [1] (starting on the 16th of January, every Friday at 10:00pm) starring Ikuta Toma from the same agency. It marks the first time Arashi provides the theme song but not act in the drama.

人気アイドルグループ・嵐の今年第1弾となる新曲「Sakura」が2月25日に発売されることが11日、わかった。同じ事務所に所属する生田斗真主演のTBS系ドラマ『ウロボロス～この愛こそ、正義』（16日スタート、毎週金曜　後10：00）の主題歌として起用された。嵐が主題歌だけでドラマに参加するのは初となる。

It has been 8 years since Ikuta and Oguri Shun last acted together in the 2007 Fuji Television drama "Hanazakari no Kimitachi e". In this work, the two childhood friends,  police detective (Ikuta) and a Yakuza (Oguri) wants to expose the truth behind a murder they witnessed in the past; it's a serious police entertainment.

　生田と小栗旬が2007年フジテレビ系『花ざかりの君たちへ』以来8年ぶりに共演することで話題を呼んでいる同作は、過去に目撃した殺人事件の真実を暴くため刑事（生田）とヤクザ（小栗）になった幼なじみ2人による本格警察エンターテイメント。

That day, taking the stage during the preview of the same drama, Ikuta said of the tag with Arashi whom he knows intimately. "In the midst of the theme of 'the feeling of thinking about people', I'm very happy to have old friends taking part and providing the music. It was a heartening support. As a friend, and an Arashi fan, I am thankful from the bottom of my heart. Thank you everyone in Arashi!" Ikuta said with happiness.

　この日、同ドラマの試写会に登壇した生田は、親しくしている嵐とのタッグに「“人を思う気持ち”が作品のテーマになっている中で、古くからの友人が楽曲提供で参加してくれたのはうれしい。心強い後押しになった。友人の一人として、いち嵐ファンとして心から感謝したい。嵐のみんなありがとう！」と喜んだ。

Co-star Oguri Shun also joked, "I can really feel the support [literal translation would be covering fire]. Amongst the actors, I have participated in quite a number of works with theme songs by Arashi. Was I part of Arashi too?"

　共演の小栗も「すごい援護射撃を受けた。俳優の中では、嵐の主題歌の作品に出ることがかなり多い。俺も嵐だったのかな？」と笑わせていた。

1: roughly translated as "Ouroboros~this love for sure, justice". Note ouroboros is an image of a dragon or serpant swallowing it's own tail.


Summary: Arashi's new single will be out on 25th Feb, which is on the same day as Pikanchi 2.5 DVD. This is a 'record breaking' single because it's the first time Arashi is providing the song for something that's not Arashi related in anyway.

It's been a week so I ported my latest fics over from RNA... and while editing the masterpost I decided to count and see how many of each pairing I've written. Yama wins hands down lol! And to think that i still claim that my OTP is Ohmiya hahahaha! I still have a one pairing that I'm completely missing - Aimiya. Even in RNA too, Octavia hasn't written any Aimiya either! And then of course, there are several pairings that I've only written as side pairings, so that's one thing I'd like to correct. That's a total of 53 completed fics, well 54 if you count Spy Arashi? Which is NOT finished though. But it's not too bad I reckon.

Towards the end of last week I got busy in the lab again. It's kinda like an all or nothing for me? Either I'm really really busy, or not at all? Well I'm supposed to be doing some lit searches today too. And I JUST got an email with more lab work to do... well not really. Because there's not enough samples to fill a qPCR plate, so I was told to wait for more samples. So I guess that makes me sort of free today? :P I did happily spend the morning translating that news article after all. Oh! And the photos! Finally posted them last night! Well it was last night! But there was an error with marsedit/LJ, and while the photos uploaded while I was asleep, the post itself didn't get posted till I woke up this morning and tried again. Hopefully the holiday photos will follow soon. I need to post the holiday photos soon really. To instagram, LJ, FB.... then I can delete them from my phone, because both my phone and iCloud is running out of space. It's like, almost 3 GB of photos. Over 1.5k of them maybe? Yeah. LOADS of photos. Right. That's it for now. For this post at least.

18) Catch up on LJ (my friend feed), I'm currently 36 PAGES behind. Ya know the url thing? At the back where it's like skip=? Yup, it's 360 now. 360 entries in my feed while I've been away. Grant I'm not interested in reading all of them, and some a repeats (because I friended them, and they posted in a comm etc), but still... that's a freaking hell lot of pages to go through!

19) clear my LJ inbox. Cleared about 50 earlier so it's down to 497 now... ya know when i came back from holidays, i have over 100 emails to clean up! ><

So basically, I'm only left with 1) Posting my holiday photos. 2) Translating something for dna, and 3) catching up wit my LJ feed... which has grown even longer since then because I have not been reading my friend feed. Sigh.

At least I'm only left with last week's Shiyagare, and Nino's drama to watch! Managed to watch Nino-san and Aiba Manabu last night while doing my mixlr broadcast. Hehehehe XD

Changes

So I'm sitting in the office. Managed to finish a new one shot with a fresh idea I came out with... started writing another fic, wrote some bit, but couldn't finish it. Looked at the collabo fic between my and Aya, edited it, but again, can't bring make myself write anything. Just sitting around and feeling... irritated. イライラします。

So well... Finally added a links section to my layout. And as I was adding the links, I realized that it's been ages since I last updated my quizlet flashcards, so I did. Added in some words and all. Ahh... I've no idea why I'm feeling so unsettled today...
