Ice skating!

Phew. The end of another tiring week. Yesterday was pretty bad. Like... not THAT busy, but still... pretty bad. 4 sampling, and 4 nitrate tests... which uses ammonia solution. At the end of the day, I was getting nauseas. I think I breathed in too much ammonia :(
Woke up this morning with a bit of a sore throat too... so yeah, I think that dizziness was because of the ammonia. Hmmph :(
Anyway... had lunch with the girls again yesterday... and it was really enjoyable. I'm really getting along quite well with them (and unsup) and it's... it's just so nice to have company. Went ice skating with the same lot of people today too, minus unsup, since her parents are going back to Msia on Monday and she wants to spend the weekend with them. Gosh. At least her husband's parents are coming in a few days to help take care of the baby... but still... lol.
Meh... I'm just so glad to have met such a nice mentor. I laugh whenever we're in the lab together and working on the same stuff... like I'm helping her do stuff... and following behind in her footsteps. It's like that time when I'm an intern student elsewhere all over again. It's... so nostalgic. Things are so ridiculously similar that it's just hilarious. Only that now I'm no longer an intern student following a lab officer around. Now I'm an RA (equivilant to lab officer) following around an RF (i.e. unsup). And since I'm not a student anymore, I don't get free ice cream/drinks/whatever. HAHAHA. Really. The two of them. Have kinda similar personalities. And both studied in the US too. Hahaha. I thought I'd never meet someone as nice as mentor 1 again... but now I found mentor 2. Idk how hard it is to find such good mentors... but hey, I've found her and I think it's worth it working for her and learning everything I can from her. It'll definitely be very helpful in the future. Just really, really happy and lucky to have met her. I think the circumstances couldn't have been better. And things couldn't have been as good any other way. You won't get such mentorship as a PhD student anymore. You just do your own thing, get help/discuss once in a while... A few years down the road, unsup would probably shift to more leadership roles, like... She'll probably be staying in the office a lot, a lot more and coming to the lab a lot less. I can't learn stuff from someone sitting at their desk in front of the computers all day long. I mean. We sit right next to each other, and unless there's something we really need to ask each other, we don't even talk. There's been days when we've not said a word to each other. And we sit right beside. So yes. I really do love it when she comes to the lab. At least there's a chance that we'll talk. And a chance that she'll show me some new stuff. She's actually been showing me stuff more and more recently, instead of just throwing me protocols. Well, there's not really protocols for these stuff that she's showing me. Like... how to use that stereomicroscope thingy... Gosh. I'm so happy I could cry hahaha. Learning new stuff! <3
Yeah. I realised it. I'm an easily bored person. That's why I always do so much stuff to keep myself busy. Be it in a good way or a bad way. Like playing games all day long. Watching Arashi stuff, translating stuff, writing blogs and guides and fanfiction, making eraser stamps... Young and wild and free. Lol.
Sometimes, I think that nothing has changed. I'm still following behind someone's footsteps in the lab. I'm still reading that same type of science, non-fiction but 'story' books... And then there's so much more. Now I'm actually teaching people, loads of people, how to do experiments. I can hold my own in the lab - well I could as an intern student too, but much better now.
So much as changed, yet so little...
And I'm out of things to say, so I'll just end here, in this really awkward paragraph... lol.
Nah.
To anyone from DNA reading this... if I owe you a contest gift, I'll try and get it packed and ready to send out next week. Gonna send a card to my friend in the US too. I asked her to help my buy a kindle. The latest kindle voyage. Is it really worth that extra $100? Idk. But I do hope to use it for years to come. And I'm really excited about receiving it. There was some problems initially with the shipping... but she managed to find another shipping method that doesn't have tax. I hope it's alright... Not sure when she'll send it out cos work has been busy for her lately. Well it's find with me, it's for my own use and when I get it doesn't really matter. I can wait hahaha. Looking forward to getting it though! I'll have to add some reading time to my daily to dos. Together with playing and winning 1 round of Vainglory so that I can continue my 7 day streak. LOLOLOLOL.
My current weekly to dos:
1 post on Nihongo manabu
1 post on uncraftables
Do some eraser carving/art stuff for uncraftables
Every other week: Storm Freaks Sunday post.
To add:
Review a bit of Japanese once a week
Watch some Arashi shows, try to catch up
Read some books
Draw some cartoon/random stuff
I'll like to start on learning programming next year too. But I should just make a habit of learning Japanese first. And catching up on Arashi shows... maybe? Lol. We'll see. I'd like to excerise more too. At least now I'm occasionally going out with colleague on weekends and that's good. At least I'm going out and doing stuff you know? Rather than staying at home all the time, being anti social. I have to balance it thought. Cos weekends are when all my blogging and stuff gets done. Oh. Gotta add '1 post on lj' to the list too lol. Yeah, I'll try to post more on LJ again. No inspiration for fanfics again but well... it's unlikely that I'll have inspiration since I don't watch any Arashi shows these days. Alright. Back to eraser crafting. That's all for now!
