Got two interesting articles to share today! Came across them thanks to other Arashi fans.

First: Why do most concerts held in Japan prohibit taking pictures?

Cami-san shared this on her FB, and it's an interesting read. It's nice to see that sekaowa is trying to change that! XD I don't think the rule will ever change for JE concerts though. Well maybe it will, but like, under the next, next generation of rulers? Or even later...? I'm certainly not keeping my hopes up.

But if the entire atmosphere and music/entertainment industry changes... that would be a good thing for us jpop fans as a whole I'm sure. Gosh. This just makes me love sekaowa even more.

As a very small thank you can I just share a sekaowa video?

Yes. They have an official youtube channel. The also have twitter, FB, their websites... so it's no surprise that they are doing really well overseas too. Good on them! People can make a living if they are talented even if they don't copyright everything you know ;) It makes me want to support them because I really like their work.

Anyway... on to the second article.

If you watched the AnShi episode from 3 weeks ago (14th Feb) you might probably be wonder what 'sukajyan' is. I was, and I had no idea how the name came about even after looking at the actual clothing articles. Luckily Ohno talked about it in his radio show today, and twosen helpfully linked to an article. Do read both the radio show and the article if you have time!

Hahaha I think so too that it will never happened to JE but i'm hoping though I'm used to it already. Allow them to use camera or not on a concert is fine with me. Plus, I don't think I can focus on the concert with my hands up holding the phone and recording them. Hahaha I want to concentrate more on them and not on getting a clear shot of them. But I'm happy that SekaiOwari is allowing their fans to record them during concerts hahaha . Let's wait for the new generation of ruler if they will change the tradition. Hahaha

I don't have time to check out the second article and the radio show now but I read the first article you linked and watched the video you posted (Sekaowa~ yeeeah~). It's really interesting to read both sides in that article - the need of fans to take pictures and videos at a concert and why the concert organizers are against it. Tbh, I'm somehow caught in the middle with my opinion. I can totally see that people want to take a picture and such... I feel that urge too when I'm on a concert and I already did it too. But on the other hand, I also feel completely annoyed if people in front of me hold up their cell phones or cameras to record a full concert... and totally block my way >.>" I mean, I'm a girl. I'm of average heigh (1,65) but when I'm attending a concert (especially rock concerts) there are people (men) in front of me who are much taller anyways... and putting up cellphones and stuff doesn't make it better. With that, I'm fine with it if people once or twice put up their phones to get a few nice shots of the performers on stage but filming the whole time is really annoying for the rest of the audience and can spoil the mood... I'm not sure if there is a good compromise to find because there are a lot of people who just don't care about those behind them...

Anyways, I agree with your opinion that it's unnecessary to put copyright on each and everything people create... this ruins the fun so much! I told you already that I'm working in a law firm dealing with intellectual property, right? We often have to deal with trademark and patent infringement and sometimes you can just shake your head about what stuff people can protect with the law... and how they can fight each other because of the rights they bought... it's sad somehow and I really hate it...

Yeah the blocking is a problem and I can see why they are worried about fans pushing each other to the front and stuff. It's really bad sometimes... I usually avoid to get to the front during a concert because I get panicked with too many people crowded... I can blend it out to a certain extent during the concert because I drown in the music but there's no need to make it worse than it is >.<"

But yes, Japan should open more to the world. I think English subtitles for concert mcs for example or for more movie DVDs and such would already be a good (and I think not too expensive) way to open a little... I mean the want people to come to Japan, to visit the country and to spend money there but they are not really willing most of the time to export their stuff... it's weird and I don't like that...

There ARE a few artists from Japan though who put their PVs on Youtube and stuff. For example a lot of avex groups do so or also groups from Hello!Project. The main problem here in Germany is that the GEMA (a really bad bad organization) blocks their content in this country because they (the artists) are not paying the GEMA -.-" But well, how should they care about each and every country and that country's stupid policy? I don't blame the artists, I blame the GEMA. So I usually surf on youtube with another proxy so that it works. I'm not expecting JE to put their PVs on the net though... unfortunately the management is just too crappy... It's frightening. If I didn't love Arashi and other JE groups that much, I would NOT support such a management but well, what choice do I have as a stupid paying fan?...

Right! It would make things much easier. And yeah, I think it was Avex too.

Yeah... the whole thing with the GEMA is a whole mess. I personally think it's a criminal organisation hiding behind "nice words and good intentions" if you know what I mean. Well, it's a double-edged sword. On the one hand, they are there to protect small artists who aren't that popular yet. They make them pay a small fee and then their videos can be accessed plus they remove stuff that got uploaded from people who did it illegally so that no one else than the actual artist can make profit with their stuff. But they totally forget the "advertising" effect for people who are not located in Germany and don't know about the GEMA and stuff... -.-" So most international artists are blocked in our country if they don't pay the fees and like I said, I doubt that most international artists give a shit if their stuff can get viewed in Germany. Anyway, it really sucks. And lately, my proxy-add-on doesn't work properly and I can't watch the PVs of one of my favorite groups, I'm pretty pissed off... Well, I ordered the CDs so I can watch the PVs when they arrive but it's annoying...
