おはようございます!
Oct. 24th, 2013 08:52 am皆さん!おはようございます!
wooohooo! so i updated my mac to mavericks yesterday... and so far so good. no problems switching languages yet, lets hope it stays that way. was pretty fast in fact when i tried to switch for the purpose of writing this article. shall try to switch languages more as and when i remember. it'll be fantastic news for me if that weird bug is finally fixed with this update. ok, imma going back to trying out the new features....
oh wait before that... i do have a few things to report on.
FIBRE BROADBAND FTW! YESH! We switched service providers to M1, and yesterday the guys came to install the fiber network terminal thing for us. So theoretically 200mbps, a HUGE improvement over the previous max 6mbps broadband Internet. Speed tests showed around 20-40+Mbps, so that's like a 10-20 fold improvement over the usual 2 or 3 i was getting previously. strangely though, the router strength is affecting the Internet speed it seems. In my living room where the router is, my dad managed to get over 70mbps! In my room was around 30-4X usually, and in my sis's room just another 5 steps away, its around 2x-3x. Weird. I have no idea why its like this, or even why the signal strength varies so much. My house is but a puny 13XX square feet or so... just a tiny apartment, nothing like those huge bungalows everyone seems to have in say the US. When we watch those shows like Love it or List it, its like we could fit our entire house in the living room alone. But why why why does the signal strength vary so much??? Gosh i have no idea...
But i can still attest to the speediness of the fibre broadband. Was updating all the apps and OS X yesterday before and after the installation happened...
1st thing i did was to update all the apps in the app store, and that included the pretty hefty xcode at around 1.7gb large. Took me extremely long to download. Over 40mins... 1 hour even.
Then after the installation completed, the Xcode and other app updates finished as well, so i switched to the new broadband to download the heavy weight mavericks (5.6gb there about?). I started the download in the app store and switched to firefox and chrome... for a max of 5 mins. Back at the app store, 1.2gb finished downloading. Needless to say I was very impressed.
On a more arashic note, I finished watching 家族ゲーム yesterday! Downloaded everything to my external hard disk haha. Loved the show loads. Now i cant get that smirking, wrapped 吉本 off my head haha. Yup so far so good. Zero lag in language switching. Man i've loving this!!! Right, maybe next up I should catch up on my VSA and AnShi :P gotta check out which was the last episode i watched tho sigh. that'll probably be a little difficult >< Alright, time for breakfast. じゃね!
and just to test out the lang switching a little more...
吃早餐的时间到了!等会见!
yup, comp still hasn’t hanged up, switching was speedy with mandarin as well. Great!
