So, instead of finished up my vacation day 4 post, I decided to just watch VSA and ouroboros last night instead, because I couldn't concentrate on any writing.

Must say, I'm loving ouroboros so much! Toma and Shun's acting is <3! And I think it follows the manga pretty darn closely. Things are a little speeded up of course. But then again it's a drama. I think Toma is less of a blockhead and a little more cool than in the manga. Which is a good thing to me. Bring on the coolness!

I wonder... will they include the part where Shun go framed and was sent to jail? But it's quite an important part in the manga I think.... they'll probably include it. Meh. I like my heroes to be invincible. Hahaha! Plus, I think that was really careless of Tatsuya to leave the cig on the table like that! When I saw that scene in the manga I immediately knew that it was going to cause trouble. Seemed too big of a slip up to be? Then again, it'll be unrealistic if the mangaka made Tatsuya invincible huh? That would become boring too. But arghs. Very exciting manga. I want to read on! Maybe I'll try and search for the Japanese version. It might already have ended for all I know... only that the translators are having trouble with the scans and stuff... I saw they were facing a severe shortage of manpower...

Ahhhh and the drama opening song. Just what is the name of that opening song! I've been trying to find it but to no avail. Ah maybe it's an OST....

Just looking at the Japanese wiki now and. Lol. They have a Chinese coach and a medical coach. Yup. Shun spoke Chinese in episode two. Him and the old wizardy doctor. Both of them sucked at it, but meh, it's fine. Can't expect them to spend month practising one line right? At least the sentence structure and stuff is alright. And it was over before I could cringe or anything.

Oh and... I'm loving Sakura loads. I only said it like a million times in the past few days. Heard the baystorm, more complete version, and it was great. Love that powerful, a little angsty, yet very hopeful feeling. Like the 'I will prevail no matter what' spirit. That kind of feeling, reminds me of breathless and calling. Or tell me why. Hope in the darkness not so much, because hope in the darkness gives a brighter overall feel than this. To me at least. It's really hard to explain these feelings. Musically trained people would probably imagine a scenery when listening to music. My sis would start thinking of choreographies. Me? I would think about the emotions the song conveys in me. Sometimes yes I do have some kind of scenery in mind, like for sync I was thinking of a lone guy standing on a high place (say top of a skyscraper) and snow falling around him. But mostly it's just that feeling that the song arouses in me.

Maybe it's to do with how I've always been struggling to make myself stand out for the better part of my life. So much so that I completely lost all motivation and gave up later on (that, and the teacher, syllabus, exam system). But even then, I was still trying to stand out somewhere, somehow. Stand out might be a misleading way to put it. It's more like... finding my place? Like in junior college, even though I didn't study at all, I still did a Science Research Programme. Still took H3 chemistry (it's like a higher level chemistry, and we were learning uni level pharm chem and org chem stuff). I struggled to get anything out of the H3 Chem exams. Scrapped a pass in A levels. But still, the stuff that I learnt then was invaluable. All the Structure Activity Relationship stuff, the BBB aka Blood Brain Barrier... It was all very important. Despite all the injuries and bruises, I came out of school intact and alive. That's the kind of feeling it has always been for me. Like. Hello! I'm here! Despite all the odds! That's why I think those kind of songs. Despite all my peers being a lot smarter than me. I could still find a little foothold, a little place to stand in. I could still identify my strength, and leverage a hell lot out of it. And in the end I'm still alive. Again, I'm struggling here in my work place. A misplaced (?) biologist in a field of chemists and engineers. But I've found a small foot hold too. Some recognition. The kind of feeling that makes you want to punch a fist into the night sky and scream 'I made it'. Or more like 'I'm still alive'. The fallen star lives on.

I've been thinking a lot about my next move. Where should I get a PhD? I really think I should look overseas. I'd like a change. I probably need a change. Go find some place where people are motivated and passionate about their work. In Singapore? I see no such... overwhelming passion here. The PhD students don't seem really intelligent either. I don't know. I just... don't get that sort of intellectually stimulating sensation, buzz, that I felt when I was in sec sch. There, people were sprouting things from university textbooks, talking about theories that I've never heard of. Here it's like. Idk. Just dull. Plain dull. Esp here where I'm working at. Many a times I even work harder than the PhD students. And I work faster too. They say that when you're the best in some place, then you know it's time to move on, to somewhere where you'll be the bottom of the pile. And then you move up till you reach the top, and repeat. That's very true. Yes I still have loads to learn here, but a PhD here, where I'm working, that's completely out of the question. And not because of the fact that it's not the right subject matter that I'm interested in working on. A team people like to work with other A team people. Heck that's so true.

Like in sec sch there's all these talk about the 'elites' and the 'elitist schools'. It's not that I have anything about people from lousier schools, of lower intellect etc. I'm don't even have a fantastic IQ. I have friends from all walks of life - mostly people I've met through gaming. But they will forever remain just friends/acquiescences. Elitist? No! It's just reality. I have nothing in common with them, beyond the game. There's nothing we can talk about! Their idea of 'hard work' is different... a job they find tough I'll find it not mentally challenging... We read different books (if they even read any at all outside of their school related compulsory materials. Ah, loads of manga and anime I guess?). Things that are common sense to me is all but common sense to them, and vice versa. We just live in different worlds.

I just to have a coursemate in year 1 of university. She came from some polytechnic... which was fine by me. But then her.... standard of... everything really shocked me after a while. It started off with us talking about projects and reports. And she says that she and her classmates are always looking for ways to add a few words to the report, so that the paragraph would end on a new line etc, so that the report/assignment would be a little longer, to meet the page length requirement. Of course, doing things like making it double line spacing, or increasing the margin width is a given. She says she's really good at doing such things. Me? I'm pretty good at editing all my reports and assignments too. To cut down unnecessary words, so that I can fit within the word limit. Our teachers never ever give a minimum word count/page count thing for our assignments. Because who knows how many pages of essay we'll come back with? Nope. It's always an upper limit, not a lower limit. And actually, they don't give page count limits, unless it comes with details instructions on font, font size, spacing, borders etc... because otherwise people would submit essay with a freaking font size 8, in a font that packs the most number of words in a given space possible. Then there was the time she casually said after our intro to chemistry lecture (which i was so bored throughout, learnt on my own in sec sch already, learnt again in jc), that now she finally knows what the = sign between C and C stands for. C=C. Get it? Double bonds. That's freaking lower sec stuff! Even my other friend, from a different polytechnic, couldn't believe it. That poor girl. I really feel sorry for her. She dropped out after the first year. University was just too hard for her. It was the first time I'd actually seen something like that happening. People dropping out of school because they couldn't catch up. In my sch yeah there were such cases, but it was more due to stress and the whole sch environment rather than because they were not smart enough. Like my classmate who kinda gave up on sch and retook the following year. She did well. And she's smart. She writes really well, fantastic English, enormous vocab, loads of bombastic words. At the start of the uni year, that girl was asking me and the other poly girl if we were going to finish the course, graduate from uni and stuff. We were both shocked. Isn't it a given that you'll graduate after getting into uni? At least for me. For us... Different worlds.

Overall... what I feel is that... the overall positivity and 'I can do it' feeling is just not present in so many people. If there's a barrier, that instinct to find a way to cross the barrier isn't as strong. That... 'I can and I will survive no matter what shit you give me'. And the 'I will make it work no matter what'.

Ah on that last point. There once was a teacher in sec sch who commented to me and 3 other project group mates. We were talking about making something in powerpoint. And she was like 'Do you know how to do that?'. Us: 'Erm, we're not sure but we'll try'. Her: 'Ya, you all will just go and click click click and you'll be able to figure it out. That's how girls are like. Not like me so old already, I can't figure anything out.'

Yeah, pardon that Singish aka poor grammar in there. So true. Or at least till my sis came along. She's not a very tech savy person for someone having being born in the digital age (same school too). At least IMO. Like, she doesn't really know how to use excel...! And I thought I was the ignorant one about excel... always forgetting the exact syntax and having the search google. It was only much later on that I gathered my 'ability' in tech was not normal. When really it was just a normal thing to me all along. To figure out how to use programs, make things work etc. And really, a lot of the time it was google helping me out when it comes to the finer points. A lot of it came from games and random exploration too. Like, I'm sure all of you have tinkered with html before right? For your own website or blog? I did it when I played neopets and tried my hand at decorating the pet page. And forums. Made one for my secondary school CCA and had fun tinkering with the color schemes and stuff. Ok, so I don't really know CSS, but I probably can clobber together a decent looking LJ layout if I really put in the time to. But now because of my sitting position at work, I'm kinda happy with the way my LJ looks. I like it anyway. It's mature looking. Definitely not gonna put big Arashi pics in the background. No, that'll attract a ton of snark remarks from my supervisor. Not that it really matters. Nobody really cares what you do at work... but I just don't like it when he comes and make fun of me. But that attitude to make things work, by hook or by crook. It's really important. I lost it for a while in terms of school work. Though even then it manifested itself in the not so important (read: useless) areas. It's taken me a long time to find it back again. Or still taking. Bit by bit little by little.

Sigh.

Yeah. I'm a perfectionist. Like everyone else from my school. If we have to do something, and we give half a shit about that something, then it has to be perfect. I think that's something that many people don't understand. Why we get some obsessed over the smallest of things. Like many people I too hate being corrected. Because my first reaction is 'shit what did I do wrong', 'where did I go wrong?' then maybe my face gets a little hot because I'm darn embarrassed. Especially when that person turns out to be right and I go 'crap I should have checked that again before posting etc'. It's maybe more of a perfectionism then pride. Or both in equal proportions. Pride in my work. I don't know. And it makes me hesitant to post some things because I think that if someone who knows better see my work they would laugh at my poor work quality. Yes. It's embarrassing.

Arghs. This turned out to be a much longer rant than I intended. But I guess that's what happens with rants.

Rights. Enough mindless ranting for today!

Woke up to find the Nino's starring in a new drama. Interesting. Too lazy to read the article properly/translate it though... :P

Not a bad start to the year for Nino eh? First he did orient express and now he has another drama. Oh and he has that Haha to kurashieba movie too. Wow. It's gonna be a busy year for Nino eh? Drama and movie filming.

In contrast the other 4 has nothing lined up for them yet this year? Hmmm...

So I've read the book and watched the drama.

Of course this post is full of spoilers, so if you don't want to know, please don't read on!

Well for one... previously when I translated the news article, it was said that on the first night the story would follow the book closely, while the second night would be a twist. (And I swear, the Japanese word used was twist, straightforward, right out of the dictionary.) Of course, when you say twist, I thought it meant that they would be changing the story... maybe changing the tricks they used to commit the murder... or changing the murderer(s)... etc... Well granted, now that I've read the story it is quite hard to actually change the story while still making sure it's as good, or even better as compared to the original. Still... the words used by that news article...

Well it turns out that the second night isn't really what I would call a twist at all. Since it in no way 'twists' the main plot. Inside, the second night drama shows a 'behind the scenes' view of how the entire incident happened. Starting from 5 years ago when the Goriki family (or Armstrong, if you're using the names from the book) was killed. How the servants of the house left etc.... how they came together one by one and decided to carry out the unthinkable - kill the murderer with their own hands. They showed how Nino worked for that Murderer (sorry, I just suck big time with remembering names), how they got the Goriki former bulter to serve as his valet. How Nino got so frustrated at having to work for such an uncouth man and nearly wanted to quit but was persuaded not to... how the less educated servants got so frustrated at the lack of progress with their plans... how last minute changes occurred when the Countess wanted to take part as well - initially the plan was that her husband would take her place, and the wife would stay at home... how Nino made the mistake of burning the letter instead of bringing it back, which eventually led to their whole plan being revealed...

All in all I'd say it was an extremely well thought out drama. I could not spot any loopholes, or logical flaws (granted, they are following the plot of a well established writer after all). I think the behind the scenes story fitted well with the main plot, it was neither dull nor boring, and it was most interesting to see how the 13 of them executed their plans (and changed their plans as they realised Suguro Takeru, the famous detective, was on board) and committed the murder.

The drama was, as you probably already know, localised as taking place in Japan, instead of Europe as set in the book. Still, everything was well considered by the script writer/director and the localisation of the story was done with utmost care. For example, in the book the secretary had let Poirot known that the murdered speaks only English, but he had replied the train conductor in French. In the drama, Suguro asked Nino where the murdered is from, to which Nino replied that he had inferred that the murdered was from a particular locaility in Japan because of his dialect, whereas Nino had replied the train conductor in a different dialect. In the book the passengers were from various countries, but in the drama they were from various parts of Japan. The character names were properly considered too. The name association trick with the governess was reproduced by referring to a place in Japan when the real name of the governess and the fake one made up by the countess was put together. The oil spot trick too. In my opinion erasing a radical off the word worked better than changing a H to an E. You can tell that they had put in a lot of effort to make sure the drama included as much of the things mentioned in the book as possible. Still, as with all drama/movie adaptations there are parts that have been left out. For example, Poirot on Taurus express was completely eliminated, and with that elimination we do not get to see the govorness being distraught at the possiblity of not catching the Orient Express. Well in fact this whole Taurus Express thing was not only omitted, but it was changed, deleted, gone. The governess was shown as departing from the house with several other members of the group of 12, with the group departing at various different times. So no Taurus Express in the drama. Also missing was the writing of names/address when Suguro/Poirot was interviewing the suspects. The collection of passport was missing too, which does make sense because they were not travelling overseas in the drama. Only the count and countness had their passports with them in the drama. And no writing, so we didn't get to see who was left and who was right handed. Those were the two most obvious differences that I can recall at the moment... Ah one more. In the book the dead man's clothes were taken off for the doctor to examine the wounds, but of course they would not do that in the drama so as to make the show more family friendly.

Edit: Just remembered one more difference... In the book another carriage was added onto the train in a the station, and the company director moved to a room on the newly added carriage, freeing up his room for Poirot. In the drama that whole part was neglected, no new carriages were added on. The director merely moved to the 3rd class. As there's no new carriage added on, after the bloody knife was found, the actress wasn't moved to a new room simply because there was no new room to move to.

The acting was also superb. Not just Nino... but everyone else's too. A star studded cast indeed!

All in all I enjoyed both the book and the drama very much. I would certainly say that the drama has done the book justice, and I'd recommend you to watch the drama when you are free (and when subs are out I guess?). I'd definitely like to let my parents watch the drama (since there's Chinese subs) when there's a chance.

Alright! That's all for now! It's really late already and it's high time for me to head home!!!
coolohoh: Biohazard (Default)

So I finally heard the song! And I must say that I like it! Well not just the song, but I’m liking the drama and manga too. In fact, when I was watching the drama I was so intent on the story that I didn’t notice Sakura had started playing, and I had to go back and listen again. But it’s nice! How should I put it? It’s definitely my type of song. Full of gusto, determination, a little hatred. It falls in the categories of songs like breathless and calling that I love so much. Ahhh can’t wait to hear the full thing now! Just a little more than a month to go…! Ahhh loving it!

So yes. I watched to drama this morning, and liked it enough to read the manga. Well I’ve been wanting to read another manga for a while… well I did read Inuyasha last month… and now I’ve read all the released chapters (in English that is. Tried to find Japanese scans because there should be more chapters out but no luck on finding a source at the first try… and decided not to continue searching but rather do something else). Interesting story. I definitely hope they would make Ikuta and Oguri more cool than in the manga though. Definitely looking forward to see how they will end things in the drama!

coolohoh: Biohazard (Default)
Ahhh murder on orient express. I could not bring myself to read the book previously, but after watching half an episode yesterday, I finally did. It's a pretty short book, just 137 pages long on the pdf that I obtained.

I must say that the drama follows the book pretty closely, with some changes being made as to the length of the story and changing the whole thing into Japanese... Well watching it raw was really a bit of a stretch. I would have preferred my dramas with Chinese subs, but yyets seems to have closed down? I discovered yyets.cc yesterday, but it seems that I have to watch it online, and with a program (not even sure if the program runs on mac) so I shouldered on with the raws last night. Only got to just past the hour mark though, then I opted to head to bed. Reading the book now, it makes me want to rewatch the drama to see if I can pick up more of their conversation that I had missed. But it sure is interesting, the drama. Looking forward to seeing how the 2nd night of the drama goes.

Sakura. The new single. Now this is interesting. Arashi singing for Toma's drama. I wonder if this was often done by other JE artists? But well we know it's a first for Arashi. It's interesting to analyse what Johnny-san/JE is thinking/planning behind the move. Has Toma finally gotten, or earned enough reputation for JE to lend him Arashi's star power? I mean like Arashi's name earns big bucks for JE and it's not something that they would lend out lightly for sure. Not to demean Toma or anything! I'm really glad he's doing well. It's good to see that he's still able to do so well despite being undebuted. Like Kazama Shunsuke. I liked that kid when watching Hachi Jidai J, you know that junior show with Hiromi and all of Arashi minus Ohno? There were so many juniors from that time who were so active and probably really popular too, but have now quit JE because of various reasons. Many citing that JE rules were too restrictive, they were not given many chances etc. So it makes me glad to see that there are people who didn't get debut but are still able to flourish/make a living in JE. Like Kazama-kun? I was pleasantly surprised to learn that he was still in JE when he guested on VSA quite some time ago. That's one cute guy. And looking at drama wiki now, he acted in four dramas last year. That's pretty good eh? It's good to know that it's just those few groups that can survive in JE IMO. Am I making any sense? JE can be a really tough place to be in, you only need to do a quick google search to find out about the lenghty periods of times when the kansai juniors were neglected to know how unfair it can be. Yet at the same time, it's not bad either. Juniors have their own TV shows, junior concerts, loads of chances and opportunities to grow. Debuted artists gets loads of support from the company, securing concert venues, holding concerts, publicity - and often riding on the sucess of older and more popular groups to pull the new groups up... You really can't say that JE treats them badly at all. Quite the contrary even. Like Arashi was given quite a lot of room to come up with ideas and such for their own concerts even in their rather early days, before they became the super, national idols that they are now...

Ah I'm starting to ramble so I'll stop here. Plus it's time for me to get off work so cya all next time!

I bring you another news article translation! Pardon me if there are any mistakes! m(_ _)m

Ninomiya Kazunari, Anne and Mitani will take part in a drama [Murder on Orient Express] together

Mr Mitani Kouki wrote the script for the Fuji Television's 55th anniversary special program, [Murder on Orient Express]. It was revealed during the press conference on the 14th that Ninomiya Kazunari from the popular group Arashi, actress Anne, Tamaki Hiroshi, Sawamura Ikki, and Fujimoto Takahiro will be taking part in a work by Mitani for the first time.

The original work is a famous mystery novel by Agatha Christie published in 1934. The setting has been changed to the early Showa era in Japan, in a period where Showa Modan just blossomed, a murder occurred in an extravagant train, and the famous detective Suguro Takeru will solve the mystery.

Ninomiya, who will act as the victim's secretary 幕内平太 (Makuuchi Heita*). He is surprised by the offer to participate in Mitani's works for the first time, "I thought I would only be an audience of Mitani's works, I was surprised when I was called." Of Ninomiya's past acting performances, Mitani says "It is really good. That was sort of an audition already. (Ninomiya is) warped, I am looking forward to the strange feeling."

Anne will act as the wife of the diplomat 安藤伯爵 (Andou Hakujyaku*), which is played by Tamaki. She deeply feels that, "I knew Mitani-san from young through my family. I never imagined that when I grow up I would be able to act has one of the characters in his works." Sawamura will act as the army colonel 能登巌 (Noto Iwao*). In order to prepare for his role, he lost 5 kg in 3 months, and kept a mustache. On his first participation in Mitani's works, he says while trembling with fear, "The pressure is really great!".

Besides that, Matsushima Nanako will act as the private tutor 馬場舞子 (Baba Maiko*), Ikematsu Sousuke will act as the fountain pen seller 羽佐間才助 (Hazama Kan Saisuke*), Yagi Akiko will act as the church worker 呉田その子 (Kureta Sonoko*), Fuji Sumiko will act as the Madam Hatori*, Kusabue Mitsuko will act as Marquess Todoroki*, Aoki Sayaka will act as Marquess Todoroki's* maid, Kobayashi Takashi will act as the victim's butler, Sasano Takashi will act as the surgeon Suda*, Nishida Toshiyuki will act as the Orient Express train conductor, Nishida's boss will be acted by Takahashi Katsumi and so on and so forth. Also, Mansai Nomura has been picked for the role of the famous detective Suguro Takeru as previously reported.]

This drama will be aired over two consecutive nights in the coming spring. On the first night, the script will follow the original works closely, and on the second night, the drama will be an original work by Mitani showing the "Reverse" of the incident.

*I am not sure of how the names are actually supposed to be pronounced in the drama!

Ah… really hungry now… and having a flu :(

Watched the last episode of lucky 7 yesterday… the ending was nice, with loads of fighting scenes to boot… and a very nice 5 colored tokyo tower in the background at the end.

nitta appeared, but not much… seems like that guy is really busy with his butai as others have suggested? Still, the back story came to a decent conclusion, and the love chasing between jun pei-san got a funny ending. It seems like every thing wrapped itself up nicely, leaving no room for a SP episode. Well there could still be one though, showing event of what happened at the agency say… 2 years later? like how well shuntaro has fitted with everyone etc. idk.

Highlights:
Matsumoto getting beaten up, followed by him beating other ppl up. At the end there was a bunch of fancy work with the railings, J sliding between the railings to escape the clothes of the enemy and at the same time beating him up. I wonder how long he took to get that move right? But it was nicely executed and looks very mean, very impressive.

Touko-san's round house kick… only lasted for like a sec tho :S

Pretty 5 colored toyko tower (with 6 extra ppl walking in front… my entire attention was of cos on the tower instead though). Nice exposure/film treatment that allows ALL FIVE colors to be seen, clearly and obviously. No whitened out yellow etc… (well we naturally wouldn’t expect anything less from the professionals after all)

have not watched the cooking show on sat (aka AnShi). loaded it last night but i went to read story books instead of watching it… watching comedians cook aren't very appealing to me… :X i don't like comedians much… many a time they are too lame for my liking, other times i don't understand the japanese language/culture well enough to understand their jokes… meh i guess they are really running out of guests to invite to AnShi… how many male artist/public personalities are there in Japan for them to invite anyway? the show's been going on for a time and it seems like they are running out of ideas perhaps? like how they invited the cute 10-year old boy and even ikuta toma last week… not that i mind though, the boy was REALLY cute (sorry, can't remember his name), and the talk with toma was HILARIOUS. Even having a cooking battle where both sides have to formulate their own recipes with the same ingredients would be more interesting IMO (and that's what they did previously right? cooking battles with the anikis)

arghs, really having a bad running nose today… and imma getting hungry. lunch at 11+ was a little too early :X. k shall end my post here.

Bliss!

Got up to date on all the arashi shows/dramas yesterday…

Love their MJ dance so much! Found a nice HQ video on tuduo and downloaded it XD

Hmmm update on my arashi music collection - done with all their albums, and downloaded all the arashi music box versions by yukimusicbox… next i'll probably look for some piano versions of their songs and download them… than the singles… I'm still debating whether to add the karaoke versions… owing to a lack of space on my phone. I've already deleted many games to make way for the songs ><

Man… I'm completely hooked on pikanchi… been listening to it the whole day… I realized that i've pretty much memorized all the lyrics already - from listening to the song alone. Heh… only read the english translation of the lyrics properly yesterday though - and that was probably the 1st time i looked at the kanji lyrics properly too :P you'd think that i should have known better after listening to the song so many times yeah :X

I still can't help but smile/laugh at aiba's pikanchi solo… love listening to it… the beats at the start is freaking long and a little extra… but that's what kinda got me hooked onto the song o.o. Lol…

Excited for the upcoming dramas… its like… BOOM! suddenly so many dramas from arashi…

1st there's the currently airing Lucky 7 from J
than there's Kageyama SP. Opps. i mean nazodi SP…
And who has blackboard too…
than there's platinum data movie for nino…
and its just been announced that there's a 'locked room mystery' drama for leader… AND a 'cat + detective mystery' for aiba…

WOOTS! i love mystery stories! and there's so much mysteries coming up… WAIT A MINUTE… all their dramas recently are ALL mysteries! What a mystery lol!
Nazodi - mystery + bucket loads of humor
Mou yuukai nanto shinai - Mystery + some humor
Lucky 7 - it’s a detective story so… -.-
and than the two upcoming dramas by ohno and aiba… oh COOL!

them boys are gonna have a busy year eh?

ah not to forget the narration that aiba did for the nihon rettou… arm… the nature documentary (sorry, too lazy to find out the proper spelling). I wanna watch! The last time i really enjoyed a movie was when i went to watch march of the penguins. Which is a documentary. Yeah i love documentaries… or to be more specific… nature documentaries… I'm more of a science person after all…

Speaking of science… i wonder how the platinum data will turn out… its something to do with scientist and DNA yeah? i hate it when they do crappy interpretations of the scientific world… like how i watched one episode of CSI (they showed us in sch during lecture, so i didn’t really have a choice) and got absolutely disgusted by all the scientific inaccuracies. (Like keeping H2O2 on the shelves for one. Dude, H2O2 will DISINTEGRATE into water. At least make them take it out of a 4degrees C fridge -.-) Well that episode in lucky 7… was it episode 2 or 3? with the scientist who stole that vial of unknown plant from the office… and the box later got stolen by some baddies… tsk. Who ever uses such a box really -.-'''. And the scientific research… the important things would be all the data generated… the plant aint important. if u have the data u can always make another plant…. -.-''' as a science student i can't help but keep thinking about all the inaccurate parts when it comes to erm… science. But i do like the story line a lot, so yeah, i can forgive the typical TV interpretations of science. I like how its going in lucky 7 now… small stories each week, and at the same time building things up for something bigger to come. At least that's what I'm expecting. With them talking abt the worst case ever thing this week… and talks abt the boss's father in the previous weeks and what happened like 16 years ago? And the disappearance of that co-worker (yes i so suck at catching names very badly. Doesn’t help that I'm reading the chinese subs while watching so i don't pay that much attention to the names especially).

Well, actually i was expecting them to reveal more in nazodi… but in they didn’t in the end… i wonder if they will in the SP. I sure hope so… cos the previous ending was really… quite lame. How they ended up wearing santa outfits and selling cake -.-'''. Its like… I'd rather they make kageyama the bad guy or something :X

Bleh… that's enough ranting from me now…ah yes… i had an idea for a drabble this morning… i'll try and see if i can write it out properly :X

Yabai!

Matsumoto's solo yabai x3 is really… yabai. I swear he's NOT singing, but whining.

What's worst is that i can't seem to get that song out of my head :S

Its cute, catchy, energetic… and stuck in my head.

Its like how I'd have a craving to watch aiba's pikanchi solo… I'd burst out in laugher at the start… i can't help but notice how unfit aiba is for singing that song… BUT i still loved it anyway.

So wild at heart cd cover is revealed. Our dear boys are very kakkoii as usual… but what I'm really waiting for is the concert DVD! So sad, it's confirmed that samurai's bday celebration part won't make it into the dvd, haiz… i guess our boys are too embarrassed?

Oh wells… watched lucky 7 epi 5… the plot is getting interesting… whereas the 1st 3 episodes were more like standalones, things now are slowly building up towards (what seems like) an exciting ending. Like the final showdown kind of thing… can't wait for next's week episode!
coolohoh: Biohazard (Default)

Its mid week again. And mid week means nothing to watch… well i do have work to do though...

Watched lucky 7 yesterday… gah! They left it hanging like that… tsk tsk! I think it should be resolved by next week? I hope…!

Last week's shiyagare had some nice ohmiya moments… like how ohno was grinding the salt for nino and nino poured the hot water to make coffee for ohno… plus the two were practically stuck to each other. Don't know why or how i started taking close notice of these ohmiya moments. Must be all the fanfics i've been reading :S scary...

Last week's vs… haha! VS i couldn’t help but stare at ohno's cute haircut throughout! Makes him look like such a little kid once more… its hard to believe he's already 30… no wait… 31! gosh! The opening was really funny too… leader as usual pretending to watch the other member's shows when he didn’t… and aiba trying to prove that he DID in fact watch J's lucky 7…. jumping around like a vampire and all :P

Okays… back to work!

Sadded...

Sighz… my literature searches are getting me nowhere! Very sad… i think i suck at searching! THe other mentor managed to find like several papers related in such a short time last friday… i should have asked her wat search terms she used T.T

sighz… i gotta try harder...

wore a red shirt today cos i was thinking CNY… heh… totally forgot about it being sho's bday… so i'm glad i wore red XD

4 shows waiting for me to watch… haven watch last's weeks regular shows yet, and there's monday's lucky 7… i think the subs might even be out already for VS and HnA last week… hmm we'll see… hope they're out already haha… since i'm already so late in watching them, might as well watch the ones with sub - that's my view anyway...

CNY was quite a tiring affair. Don't know why but i was just tired and even more tired… and now i should get back to work… since i've got a lot to do before the discussion on friday! Slacked last night again… played some games and watched the short clips on cami's blog. MJ eats toast with honey, butter and mayo! HAHA COOL! Did you know that i absolutely LOVE mayo and i often eat bread with mayo (yes the japanese mayo) for supper when i get hungry? Cos 1) i love mayo and 2) there isn't any jam or other spreads in the house 3) you just have the take the bottle from the fridge, and squeeze plenty of mayo on your bread, and fold the bread  into half (or slap a 2nd bread on top) and TADA! The mayo gets squished and spread out evenly on your bread! You don't even need a knife or spoon or anything to spread out the mayo, so nothing to wash… no need to get your hands dirty… perfect for lazy bums like me! XD

Ah and bread with honey… i had it the other day for… lunch? cos i felt like eating something other than bread with mayo so yeah… don't remember mixing them together though i've done honey + butter and honey + mayo a lot. I toasted bread + egg (yes a whole egg) + butter + mozzarella the other day for lunch… was nice although the egg could cook properly (but the bread was getting charred already) so i ended up tossing it into the microwave oven for a bit… hehe… shall make honey + butter + mayo sometime soon XD Can tell its an absolutely fabulous combination just from hearing it… mayo! *drools*

okok…. back to work already!

GANTZ!

Finally watched GANTZ yesterday… both part 1 and part 2… the movie is quite good… loved the part 2 ending… it's a perfect ending for a movie with the title 'perfect answer', but if you were to think a bit more the ending isn't extremely satisfactory. What happens to all the aliens they'd been fighting? Since the 'new GANTZ' promises that no one will be brought to the room anymore, there'd be no one to fight the aliens… if GANTZ can somehow fend off the aliens w/o getting human help, why did it bother getting human help in the 1st place? o.o

And its not like GANTZ is really bad in the 1st place… those ppl would have been killed anyway… so GANTZ actually gave them a 2nd chance at life - although most of them end up dead once more as soon as they got the 2nd chance.

It's also a mystery how Kato's brother (ayumi was it?) got revived when he got killed by an alien… i though only those killed during missions from GANTZ can be revived… because otherwise it simple wouldn’t make sense when everyone from GANTZ's database was revived… loads of ppl die everyday… so wouldn’t the population of japan kind of double if it revives every single person that died within the past (idk how many) years…

heh… guess movies aren't really meant to be analyzed this way… but i just can't help but over think when watching movies… dramas aren't that bad since they come in small parts… but i can still end up spending a lot of time brooding over them… like i did with nazodi or even other dramas that i finished in one or 2 sittings. Partly the reason why i don't want to go to the movies… the other would be cause i get terrible headaches…

I did have fun watching the movie though… and the 1st movie wasn’t as scary as it should have been cause youku was being a terrible bi#$# and the movie was loading at snail's speed… so i'd like… watch for 30sec, wait for the video to load, and start all over again. So yeah… most of the action scenes were cut off so blah…

I spent the waiting time reading the GANTZ wiki though… so i wasn’t lost or anything. I loved the weapons and outfits in the movie… mainly cos the stuff glows copper blue - my favorite color (ever since i was really young, way before arashi was even formed). Black + Blue lights = cool. Wished the GANTZ suit glowed more often though… heh

hmm weapons… they used the sword… and the X-gun… the Y-gun appeared at the start of the 1st movie once… but that's all… most of the time they fought with swords - well a sword fight action scene is a lot more exciting than people aiming at each other with the X-guns after all. The 1st movie follows the manga rather closely… up till the result of the temple mission where there were quite a few survivors instead of only kurono left as was in the manga. The ending of the movie was totally different from the manga (actually i don't know the actual END of the manga, since i've only read stuff on the wiki, didn’t read the actual manga)… i guess it'll be hard to fit the massive alien vs human battle into the short movie… so they kind of simplified things a lot more in the movie.

The CG effects… were ok… nothing seemed out of place so yeah… things seems quite natural so they didn’t like over do things with the CG, something which i really don't mind.

hmm… wonder if the lucky 7 chinese subs are out already. Watched like a 15min clip of the most exciting part (i.e. topless boxing scene) on lj the other day… just couldn’t resist… i must say the fighting action was really good! Really makes my wish i could see MJ's butai… them sliding and swinging around… throwing punches and kicks at each other. Very cool…

ah… will vs be back tmr? oh well.. at least there'll be HnA tar… haha… ohno's on again… this time with who… and we'll get to see ohno sleeping yet again haha

Freeter!

Finished watching freeter earlier, waiting for the making to load now - loading super slowly... maybe i'll give up and look for another version later... this one has really good quality tho, which is why i'm patiently waiting for it to load.

Freeter... touching story, and i was quite amused at aiba's cameo appearance... and ah, his appearance in the SP... i swear they had absolutely no intention of letting him appear in the SP... but aiba probably bugged nino about it, and they decided to add it in during the last minute of smthing... his cameo appearance was SO RANDOM haha... but cute nonetheless XD

haiz... i should get writing with my story... but the terribl[e thing about my writing is that i like to narrate a lot, so it feels like the story is very... boring... or should i say, my style of writing is really boring? like i originally wanted to make things more mysterious... than i happily start writing all the 'mysterious parts' out in one shot. so much so for the mystery -.-'''... and my inability to organize my thoguht properly doesn’t help much. sighz. i gotta work harder... and i should slap myself hard and start reading up on my fyp stuff too... haiz.

ah... watched the last episode of nazodi... WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!

oh good, found a way to change the background color so that the text should be easier to read when highlighted :)
Edit: it works perfectly, cool XD

as i originally believed, kageyama is really innocent... there was, as i originally believed, a ridiculous, amusing story behind kageyama's appearance at the manga writer's house. i must say there was quite a lot of crack in this episode (wait, in which episode was there no crack?), and they cut the scenes to make the preview of the last episode really well... it certainly made me very worried about kageyama's innocence...! i was hoping that they will reveal more about the mysterious kageyama, but he remains as elusive as ever... e.g.: why is he sooo freaking good at deducing all the cases? well he did reveal that he was being mean to reiko on purpose, in hopes of getting her to learn and grow... but nothing much else. season 2 or at least a special will coming soon... the viewership is really high so i'm hoping there'll be a season 2 or smthing... after all, the secret about reiko-san (that her dad whispered into kageyama's ears) hasn’t been revealed yet, and at the end of the show it says 'see you soon'... and in sho-kun's/kageyama's blog he didn’t say bye bye... so at least a SP episode... at least the 'see you soon' makes it very obvious IMO... i wonder when we can see kageyama again ne... all in all, this drama has had a nice mix of humor, suspense... and just enough hints of relationship... loved it! 1st time i'm following a japanese drama like this ya know ;)

watched freeter halfway thru... finished epi 5 yesterday... went msia for a day trip with my family today so no time to watch... i shd try and sleep earlier today... so i shall continue watching it tmr i guess... oh wait, probably have to go jurong point with my mum tmr... oh wells... we'll see...
